Last Monday I got to see my very first NHL game!
I went to see the Vancouver Canucks play the Minnesota Wild.
Now we haven't gone to a game yet because the ticket prices are ridiculous. Also I don't feel it's worth it to pay $75 a pop to be in nosebleed seats.
I got to go because I've been working some overtime and as a reward my boss took me to the game. Our company gets tickets from vendors every once in the while as a gift and then they trickle down to us. The seats were really close.
I don't have any good pictures because I forgot my camera and only had the crappy camera on my phone. The first thing I noticed was that there was no announcer. The absence of one was weird and you had to really watch what was going on. Also when the Wild would score a goal, you would hardly even notice because the fans would not even acknowledge it, but when the Canucks scored the whole stadium would erupt into pandemonium. Also when penalties were called or the refs made a bad call the crowd would boo and make a huge commotion. At one point a chant of "Ref you suck" went on for about 30 seconds.
The other thing was the noise that is made when the pick hits the glass or the players are checked into the boards. It was awesome to have this experience, but I don't think I'd pay for it at least not for regular season games.
