The Canucks

Last Monday I got to see my very first NHL game!

I went to see the Vancouver Canucks play the Minnesota Wild.

Now we haven't gone to a game yet because the ticket prices are ridiculous. Also I don't feel it's worth it to pay $75 a pop to be in nosebleed seats.
I got to go because I've been working some overtime and as a reward my boss took me to the game. Our company gets tickets from vendors every once in the while as a gift and then they trickle down to us. The seats were really close.

I don't have any good pictures because I forgot my camera and only had the crappy camera on my phone. The first thing I noticed was that there was no announcer. The absence of one was weird and you had to really watch what was going on. Also when the Wild would score a goal, you would hardly even notice because the fans would not even acknowledge it, but when the Canucks scored the whole stadium would erupt into pandemonium. Also when penalties were called or the refs made a bad call the crowd would boo and make a huge commotion. At one point a chant of "Ref you suck" went on for about 30 seconds.

The other thing was the noise that is made when the pick hits the glass or the players are checked into the boards. It was awesome to have this experience, but I don't think I'd pay for it at least not for regular season games.

New Years

For New Year's this year, Mike and I decided we should actually buy tickets to go to one of the parties around the city.

We went to the Commodore because there was a good live band and it is close enough to walk.

Before going, Chris and Rain came over and we got a ton of yummy take out.

Then we played Guitar Hero and had some drinks before walking over.

They had blocked off Granville Street for New Year's Eve with police cars, so you could walk anywhere you wanted to.

They passed out top hats for the men, tiaras for the ladies and paper horns for everyone.

We met some of my friends from work here had had a pretty good group.
The guys absolutely love those little paper top hats. Must be the Slash aspect of them.

I think I have a picture of everyone of our guy friends sporting one.

Here I am with the girls. I believe we are belting out Livin' on a prayer and enjoying our complimentary bottle of champagne. My resolution this year is a good one that I plan on working hard at. I am trying to be more positive and every time I say anything negative, I give a dollar to charity. It makes me feel happier and relaxed to always be thinking about the positive side of things. Good Karma :) Happy New Year Everyone!

Christmas in Freddy

Mike and I went home for Christmas this year.

We got to visit all our family and see some friends too.

Here we are in front of the Christmas tree at Mom and Dad's house.

Here is Heather and Nanny on Christmas morning.
Here are Mom and Dad opening presents. Thanks Mom and Dad for all the really nice presents you got for myself and Mike.

You guys really went a little overboard this year, but I do enjoy everything you got me. I really like my new sneakers and the running outfit and the nice perfume.

Thanks to Nanny and Grampie for the pajamas. They are very comfortable and chic.

It was really nice to see uncle John and Julie and Len too. I even went to Woodstock with Dad to see Grammie.
Here we are up at Mike's parents. Raymond made all kinds of awesome food. I must have gained 5 pounds while I was there.

Kim and Shane gave us Dance Dance Revolution for Christmas. What an awesome gift guys, thanks.

Here is Mike playing blindfold tag. Kim is actually behind the chair that Barb is sitting in and she's about to get caught. We had so much fun playing this game which I know is kind of odd for a bunch of adults, but Christmas is a time to act like a kid, right?
Here's Shane and Brent in the background. I don't even want to admit to how long we played this game for.

While we were there we also went out to dinner with some friends , which was also nice.
