A few weeks ago, it was our good friend Chris's birthday.
For his birthday we went out to dinner at a very cool Japanese restaurant in Gastown which he introduced us to.
It was not a sushi restaurant, but there were lots of great Japanese dishes like seared Ahi Tuna and Giroza dumplings.
We had a great time and a little too much Saki and then we went to Steamworks for a few drinks and then back to the Irish Heather for some more drinks :)
Steamworks is a microbrewery and they have some tasty beers like the Lionsgate Lager.
The Irish Heather was a historic part of Vancouver, but recently it relocated due to construction.
It is now very new and hip and has a much cleaner look. However I really enjoyed the old location as it had been the location of the Gaol and apparently there had been hangings of criminals in the back courtyard. It also had a very cool scotch bar called Shebeen, which the new location still has.
We opted not to visit the Shebeen as the last time the three of us did, it was a bit of a gong show.
I also wanted to blog about The Creamery. Mike and I discovered this a couple of weekends ago. We went out for diner and along Denman there was this icecream shop called The Creamery.
Basically you choose your base ice cream (which is home made) and then you can choose from a plethora of mixings. From fudge to cookie dough and gummie bears, they have it all.
The workers then mix your mixings into the icecream.
Finally you can choose a very tasty waffle cone or bowl to finish it off.
Yum! It was so good.
Recently we also went to see Louis Black. He is an American comedian that we've seen on TV on David Letterman and Jon Stewart.
He was hilarious, very funny!
Last weekend, we went to Galiano Island for the May long weekend. Mike and I and the dogs had a great time at the cottage we stayed at, but I'll blog about it later.
We're all well and happy and this weekend it is particularly sunny and warm going up to 20 degrees both days! We have a BBQ later tonight at our neighbours place, so I better get going and get changed, etc.
